Presented here below are some of the immediate needs of the mission, to let you know of some great opportunities to “accumulate a treasure in heaven, a good foundation for the future, so as to win the life that is true life” (1Tim 6, 19), by becoming a mission partner. Your prayers and financial contributions are vital for us to realize these mission projects.
1. Land For Santvana Village in Kerala (Preferably in Kottayam Dt.)
Building a model community that strives to live the Gospel, creating a culture of life, a culture of love is the goal of Santvana. The modern culture which most of the Christian faithful are passionately following contains too many values that are counter to the Gospel which gradually undermine their faith. It is also alienating people from a life in harmony with the nature. Simplicity of life, dignity of labour, sacrificing one’s comfort for the sake of others, a life of trust in divine providence, living in contact with nature, organic cultivation, preference for natural remedies for treatment of sicknesses are important values on which the life style of Santvana Village must be built. There will be a perpetual adoration of the Bl. Sacrament and evangelization training centre in Santvana village. In order to realize this dream the community needs a larger area of at least three acres of land in Kerala. We look forward to generous persons who are ready to donate the required land or help us buy it.
2. Tourism as a means for New Evangelisation of Europe
We envisage Santvana Villages in Kerala and Agra to be bases to promote New Evangelisation of Europe through tourism. We wish to create a situation where people from Europe and other places could come and stay in a less expensive and spiritually enriching environment and travel from there to visit places of interest. We look forward to persons who wish to support us to realize this vision for New Evangelisation. We invite you to be partners in this evangelisation venture.
3. Divine Mercy Shrines
Once before the daybreak about at 4.00 o’clock, as I was going to our chapel, I could hear hymns being sung in a temple, then a thought flashed through my mind, why not we go for some Christian shrines where similarly prayers and hymns would be offered to glorify the Lord. With this thought as I came and sat in the chapel before the Blessed Sacrament, a gentle voice resounded in the depth of my heart - Divine Mercy Shrines. From then on, it has been my dream to get small plots of land (one or two cents) in Delhi and in other parts of north India to make a small Divine Mercy Shrines, with a small room attached where one of the senior couples or singles could stay and daily conduct Divine Mercy Prayers and intercede for the people. This is to make opportunities for lay people to serve the mission of new evangelization. I am sure it will draw many people to the Lord. It needs supporters and sponsors. To building up of one such Divine Mercy Shrine would approximately cost 10,000 Euros
4. Santvana in Varanasi to support Khrist Bhakta movement
Varanasi (Banares) is a religious city most holy to the Hindus all over the world. Varanasi is a district in Utter Pradesh. Missionaries always considered Utter Pradesh as a hard ground for the seed of the Gospel to take root and to sprout. Missionary activities are met with very poor response from the people.
A great missionary breakthrough
Matridham Ashram of the Indian Missionary Society (IMS) received a tremendous grace that caused a great missionary breakthrough in the hard ground of Utter Pradesh. Matridham Ashram is well attuned with the religious culture of Varanasi. From 1992 onwards proclamation of the Gospel, adoration and healing services was introduced here by Rev. Fr. Vinayanand IMS. Later under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Anil Dev IMS, it developed into a powerful spiritual movement that attracted people of UP to Christ. Later they were came to be known and Khrist Bhaktas (Devotees of Christ). Now in veracious pars of UP we find people who have a strong commitment and devotion to Christ. To help these Khrist Bhaktas we need many small mission centers in defferent places. There might be some among you whom the Lord has blessed with material riches and generous hearts. Perhaps you can help us to get a plot of land develop a mission centre. For further details please contact, if possible kindly visit us in Varanasi.
5. Other needs of the mission
To help our missionaries to reach out to different villages our mission animators need a few motor bikes and the mission centres need four wheelers even a used vehicle. Often these villages have long hours of power cut hence a few inverters are needed. At present there are ten animators, we need to appoint ten more local animators to reach out to the new believers. Animators need to be paid Rs. 3000/- per month. A few bicycles also need to be purchased.
6. Christmas Celebration in the Public Square
During last Christmas Santvana conducted a Christmas celebration in the public sqare, at the main junction in Burari with people of all faiths. We conducted a ‘bhandara’ snacks prepared along with cake and tea. Three thousand people came and received snacks. There was a music team from Varanasi explaining and singing the Nativity narrative. They were all given a printed Christmas message. We look for opportunity to present the Gospel to people. Next year we want to prepare a beautiful Crib also. For this we need to buy a crib set, each statue of the size of 2 feet. Full set would cost approximately Rs. 40,000/-
7. SANTVANA SAHARA
To support and enable the marginalized children. The Santvana Community provides a tutor and space for free coaching and educational assistance to children of migrated and marginalized tribal people of Delhi suburbs. At present there are 10 such schools helping 140 children from the economically backward families. Children are also given personality development programs and counselling for those in need. A full time co-ordinator (MSW) is appointed who need to be paid Rs 20,000/-. Every teacher is paid Rs. 3000/- they work daily two hours. You are welcome to sponsor whatever you can afford to.
“We cannot be content when we consider the millions of our brothers sisters, who like us have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, but who live in ignorance of the love of God. For each believer, as for the entire Church, the missionary task must remain foremost, for it concerns the eternal destiny of humanity and corresponds to God's mysterious and merciful plan”. Redemptoris Missio 86
Santvana Community offers special prayers and daily a Holy mass for you who are its mission partners.
