Mrs. Pally Theresa

Isaiah 9:2 says, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light shone”.

My name is Pally, which means Church. My birth was into a Hindu family. I was born as a sickly, pale and strange looking child. I was told that out of curiosity many people came to see me. My parents were very much worried about me. One day a Christian woman came to see me. She asked my parents to take the child and go with her. She led my parents to the Catholic Church and requested them to offer the child before the Lord. Having offered me in the Church they took me back home. As I reached home I was totally healed of my illness and problems. In gratitude my parents named me Pally. This happened in 1946. Later as I grew up I joined the school attached to the same Church. As a teenager I my parents got me married. My married life was full of struggles and problems. I had tried all possible religious rituals according to the faith of my family to attain freedom from the bondages. My husband got sick and after a long period of illness he died. 1989 was that life changing event which gave me with new hope and led me from darkness to light. I happened to participate in a retreat at Divine Retreat Center, Muringoor, Kerala where I had my first encounter with Lord Jesus Christ whom I accepted as my Lord and Savior. Experiences of my life led me to the conviction that “There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved.” Acts 4, 12

Moved by an intense experience of God’s love I decided to spend the rest of my life for Jesus and for his mission. I wanted to share the message of God’s love with all people who live in ignorance of it. From then onwards for 9 years I went about sharing the Good News of God’s love with people. I walked from place to place, from house to house, meeting people sharing the Gospel, leading people to God through Jesus Christ.

One day as I was praying, I had a vision of Jesus coming to me in the form of the bread of life. He asked me, “Who will go for me?”. I responded, “Yes, Lord I shall go for you”. A few days later I came to know about Santvana Community through some members of the community who were natives of the same place and I decided to join the community. From 1998 onwards I have been serving in Santvana Community. I received numerous graces through Santvana. Greatest of all is the Sacrament of Baptism which I was allowed to receive. Another special grace was the transformation that took place in the life of my brother and his family. My brother came to faith and he continued the ministry which I was doing while I was at home. Community life was another enriching experience. Every effort to share, to understand others, to speak the truth in love, to give and receive feedback, all helps me to grow in genuine love. I had discontinued my schooling after seventh standard. Hindi language of north India was totally new for me. Extreme climate of the place was unbearable yet zeal for the Gospel empowered me to face all those. By the special grace of the Lord I learned to communicate in Hindi. So I could go to villages of north India and share the Gospel of Jesus with people. Praying for people before the Blessed Sacrament is another ministry which I love to do. Many families received the Lord’s blessing through our prayers. Now I am 66 years old yet I find a lot of fulfillment and joy in living for Jesus and His mission.
